Through social media and the web, messages using the name IT-alert are spreading on many cell phones, inviting citizens to download Apps with the false claim of receiving updates on current natural disasters. In reality, the purpose is to fraudulently acquire sensitive data and information from those who download it.

On this matter, the Civil Protection Department urges the utmost caution, reminding that the only official website is https://www.it-alert.gov.it/en/, that there is no IT-alert App, and that any application that repeats the wording is undoubtedly malicious and potentially harmful.

It-alert is currently proceeding with its testing and will be active from 2024 only after successfully completing this phase. As mentioned in recent tests, to receive the messages, it is not necessary to download any App or activate any service.
