On Friday, July 7, 2023, the fourth test of IT-alert, the public alert system Italy is adopting will take place: approximately at 12 PM, a test message will arrive on the switched-on, connected mobile phones of people in Calabria and neighbouring areas in the other regions.

People who receive the message are not required to do anything other than answer the questionnaire that will be available on the website www.it-alert.gov.it it to report any failures and help implement the system

In this experimental phase of IT-alert, which started on Wednesday, June 28, with the first test and will continue in the next months and will involve all the Regions and the Autonomous Provinces of Bolzano and Trento, people are directly involved to know the new system, to test its functioning with respect to the different typologies of phones and operational systems, and to collect feedback from users to implement the service. Also, people in the test area that around 12 PM do not receive any IT-alert notifications can fill in the questionnaire to report it.

At present, more than 470,000 questionnaires have been completed after the tests in Tuscany, Sardinia and Sicily.

The data collected, processed in anonymous form, are currently under elaboration; a preliminary analysis immediately after the tests has allowed the mobile operators to start checking some of the elements that emerged, such as the failure of the notification on some devices.

After the test in Calabria, the test in Emilia-Romagna is scheduled for Monday, July 10.
